Equality, Diversity, Inclusion training for staff
Dr Rashne Limki, Director of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) at the University of Edinburgh Business School, has created and open licensed a 45 minute EDI training video for Higher Education staff. Rashne is co-convenor of the Edinburgh Race Equality Network, Migrant Officer of the Edinburgh University and College Union, and a board member of Shakti Women’s Aid.
The purpose of the video is to highlight some of the equality, diversity, and inclusion responsibilities of working with students.
EDI competence should include an understanding of how social difference (based on race, gender, class, disability, sexuality, age, religion, and other social identities) impact lived experience. And having the skills and confidence to implement this in one’s relationships and action.
The video covers the difference between cultural sensitivity verses EDI competence; recognising and undoing norms; and practical interventions.
