Introduction to Sustainable Food Systems and Food Security CPD

Introduction to Sustainable Food Systems and Food Security is a free open licensed CPD course from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies that enables teachers to gain knowledge and access teaching material on sustainable food systems and food security. The course is for anyone who will be creating learning materials on this topic, with specific exercises that have been designed to use in class. This course is licensed CC BY, and has been endorsed by Education Scotland.
The course is split into 7 key topics:

- Food Security
- Introduction to sustainable development and food systems
- Environmental impacts of food systems
- Social impact of food systems
- Food loss and waste
- The future of sustainable food systems
Each topic is accompanied by classroom activities that begin to explore the complex issues of sustainable food production, the environmental impacts of our food systems, and break down food security into concepts that you can reflect on as you shop for and cook food.
