Summer Internships – Come and work with us!
We have an exciting opportunity for two student interns to come and work with the OER Service for three months from June to August. As an Open Content Curator intern you’ll be working with the OER Service and colleagues from the Schools of GeoScience and Physics to contribute to our award-winning collection of open educational resources (OER) on TES Resources. It’s a great opportunity to work with a friendly team, develop new digital skills, gain experience of working in Information Services, and make an important contribution to the global knowledge commons.
What’s involved?
As an Open Content Curator Intern your job will involve…
- Working with the OER Service, and colleagues from GeoScience and Physics to review resources created by staff and students from outreach courses to enable them to be shared as open educational resources (OER).
- Checking that all third party materials (e.g. images, media, etc.) are correctly licensed and attributed, contacting copyright holders, and sourcing alternative materials where necessary.
- Applying an appropriate Creative Commons licence to the OERs.
- Working with GeoScience colleagues to apply Curriculum for Excellence learning levels and descriptors to the OERs.
- Uploading the OERs to our award-winning collection on TES Resources, and adding them to the OER Showcase on Open.Ed.
- Disseminating the OERs through the OER Service’s social media channels.
- Writing regular reflective blog posts about your experiences.
- Develop your own open educational resource and participate in activities and events around Information Services Group, including Wikipedia “edit-athons”.
These internships are open to all University of Edinburgh undergraduate students. The pay for these roles is UE03 £11.18 per hour, plus £1.83 per hour holiday pay. Interns will start on 30th May 2023 and work for around 35 hours per week for 12 weeks. To find out more and apply, visit Unitemps.
