Wikipedia Training lessons

Hands are cupping a mini wikipedia globe made from wet sand

Ewan McAndrew, our Wikimedian-in-Residence, has created a detailed lesson plan and accompanying slideshow to assist anyone in becoming a Wikipedia trainer and run a Wikipedia editing training session.

The plan provides an introduction to the Wikipedia universe, navigating Wikipedia’s front page and articles, how to set up a Wikipedia user page, and how to create and edit content (formatting, links, images, lists, citations, the info box, and more) using the new visual editor.

If you’re located in the UK, please message Wikimedia UK (info @ wikimedia.org.uk) to let them know when you plan to run a training session. This is so Wikimedia UK can provide you with sign-up sheets, feedback forms, guidance about best practice, and possibly some great Wikimedia swag. They can also potentially link you with Wikipedians in your areas to help out at your session.
