Copyright and Licensing Training – HCA Session
2nd September 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
This is a tailored session HCA staff and PGR students to provide a background and overview of:
- the University’s copyright and licensing arrangements, and how that impacts on use of materials in closed or open teaching spaces;
- introduction to the various sources of Open Educational Resources (OER)and how to locate content with Creative Commons licenses;
- and an overview of why OER are important to us at the University and how OER creation is being incorporated into assessment in some courses and Schools.
This session is well-suited to those who require a basic understanding of copyright law, licensing and HE applications, and open educational resources. For those who already have some knowledge of copyright law and licensing, this course can serve as a refresher. Opportunities for questions and discussions will be ample.
Copyright and open licensing training is an important way to build confidence, awareness, and staff skills, enabling the provision of teaching, research and information services in compliance with the law and open educational practices.
Stephanie (Charlie) Farley is our Open Educational Resources (OER) Advisor for Educational Design and Engagement. She provides the OER service and the Open.Ed website.
