Privacy statement

The OER vision for University of Edinburgh has three strands, each building on our history of the Edinburgh Settlement, excellent education, research collections, enlightenment and civic mission. The newsletter is a primary vehicle for communicating with open education practitioners and the wider University community.

Information about you: how we use it and with whom we share it.

We are using Sympa as our mailing system. The information you provide will be used by the University to:

  • Keep you up to date with news and progress regarding the OER Service via the newsletter
  • Keep you up to date on relevant events via the newsletter
  • Provide you with the opportunity to network with colleagues and share ideas via the newsletter
  • Provide you with information on events and workshops we are running that may interest you via the newsletter

We are currently using information about you because you have previously given us consent to be added to our newsletter mailing list.

We will hold the personal data you provided us for 1 year.  After this period we will send communication to you querying whether you wish to remain on our mailing list. Alternatively, you can opt out of the mailing list at any time by unsubscribing from the list using the instructions here – https://www.ed.ac.uk/information-services/computing/comms-and-collab/email/lists/sympa/unsubscribe – or by contacting stephanie.farley@ed.ac.uk.

We do not use profiling or automated decision-making processes.  A human decision maker will always be involved before any decision is reached in relation to you.
