Post-digital world of adult education

‘The post-digital world of adult education is hybrid learning enmeshed with teacher avatars to increase choice and engagement’ was created by Olivia Sills as part of the Digital Futures course for the MSc in Digital Education.

The purpose of this OER is to offer a critical perspective of the post-digital world of adult education and that hybrid learning is enmeshed with teacher avatars to increase choice and engagement. It is an invitation to participants to engage and explore the critical perspective of how avatar teachers may increase choice and engagement and possibly increase equity of access to education in the global north.

Over the four modules you will explore what is hybrid learning as it currently exists. We will take a critical perspective on the current delivery method and aim to explore the advantages and disadvantages.  Module two we will propose a possible future vision of using avatar or hologram teachers within in the hybrid learning setting, in particular for those who are not in the classroom, and at a location of their choice. The next section will focus on the avatar itself, sometimes termed hologram or motion capture. Exploring what might this look like in an education setting of the future and how might it manifest itself. The final module will ask participants to explore what this future vision might looks like, creating a collaborative vision board. Finally proposing a critical perspective of this future vision of hybrid learning.
