Safe, Inclusive and Participative Pedagogy (SIPP)

Safe, Inclusive and Participative Pedagogy (SIPP): Improving Early Childhood Education is a partnership research project funded by UKRI and GCRF, running from January 2020-January 2024.
This research project aimed to identify and develop safe, inclusive, participative pedagogy that is implementable in challenging contexts and sustainable for governments, communities and families.
The partners in the Project included the International Center for Research and Policy on Childhood at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (CIESPI at PUC-Rio), Brazil, the University of Eswatini, Eswatini, Bethlehem University, Palestine, the Children’s Institute, University of Cape Town, South Africa and the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
Each project partner undertook qualitative community case studies and policy and systems analysis at community and country levels. Together, they developed the economic case for safe inclusive pedagogy. Community engagement and participation underpinned the project and there was a strong focus on knowledge exchange and collaborative learning.
The support of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) is gratefully acknowledged.
