Sanctuary 2024: Audio Learning Environment
Created by Brian Mather as part of the Digital Futures course for the MSc in Digital Education, ‘Sanctuary 2024: Audio Learning Environment’ provides auditory experiences around a historical site in the town of Peebles in the Scottish Borders. The site has been a place of religious significance from 1261 as it was the home of a monastery where monks practices mindfulness, reflection and meditation as part of their religious devotions.
The resource encourages reflection on how these practices could help with learning, and acts as a sanctuary for critical and emotional reflection.
Learning objectives:
- Understand how mindful practices can be established in virtual simulation and in learning.
- Envisage a technological future that provides space for humanity and nature.
- Be able to identify inclusive approaches to learning practice in digital learning.
- Reflect on the importance of sound in learning.
