  • Designed in different formats for students aged 9-18
  • Introduces younger learners to white blood cells and how our bodies fight infection
  • Supports older students learning basic immunology and inflammation biology
  • Integrates into the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence

Our OER of the month for August is Supercytes – a card game and resource pack, containing animated cartoons, that focuses on making Biology fun in order to encourage early interest in science.

The Supercytes resource pack was created by medical research scientists working in the MRC Centre for Inflammation Research at the University of Edinburgh. Designed primarily for use in schools, this resource pack is appropriate for students ranging between ages 9 and 18. Younger learners are introduced to white blood cells and learn about how our bodies fight infection, while Supercytes supports older students through learning basic immunology and inflammation biology.

These resources are all available as a free digital download under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International license. To register your interest and access the download, head to the Supercytes webpage. You will then be able to print your own copy.
