To celebrate the opening of the new Edinburgh Futures Institute building last week, the OER Service has shared a gallery of open licensed images of the restored and refurbished historic building on Wikimedia Commons.

Edinburgh Futures Institute is housed in the Old Royal Infirmary, which was built in 1879 and served as the city of Edinburgh’s main hospital until 2003. The category-A listed building will now bring together students, researchers and civic society to find innovative solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges including ethics of artificial intelligence, social inequality and climate change.

The revitalised building unites modern design with historic architecture, including a public square with café, exhibition and performance spaces, plus new access points from Middle Meadow Walk, bringing benefits to the whole community.
