Open Access Week 2024: Open Scholarship
Building on last year Open Access Week 2024‘s theme is again focusing on “Community over Commercialisation” and prioritising approaches to open scholarship that serve the best interests of the public and the academic community.
We’re proud of the community value and focus that is embedded in he OER vision for University of Edinburgh with its three strands, each building on our history of the Edinburgh Settlement, excellent education, research collections, enlightenment and civic mission.
Many colleagues at The University of Edinburgh strive to ensure that the research and education produced here is open and available to the public and academic communities in order to build and share knowledge. Some of the ways this is being achieved is through the recording and dissemination of scholarly seminars and lectures by experts and researchers.

We’re also proud of the fabulous service being provided by our publishing service Edinburgh Diamond, situated within Edinburgh University Library, which offers free publishing services to support Diamond Open Access books and journals created by University of Edinburgh academics , staff and students.
Open research at the University is supported in numerous ways, and one of the highlights is the Edinburgh Open Research Conference. A collaboration between the Library Research Support Team and Edinburgh ReproducibiliTea, which offers an opportunity for researchers, students, professional services and communities to come together to look to the future of Open Research.
Edinburgh University is committed to making Open Research the new normal and a vital part of achieving that is by contributing to positive culture change within research.
